As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and pure luck. The aim is to move your checkers safely around the board to your inside board while at the same time your opponent moves their pieces toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With opposing player checkers heading in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for particular techniques at specific times. Here are the 2 final Backgammon techniques to complete your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the aim of the blocking plan is to hamper the opponents ability to shift their chips, the Priming Game tactic is to absolutely barricade any activity of the opponent by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s checkers will either get bumped, or end up in a battered position if he at all attempts to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be setup anyplace between point two and point eleven in your board. Once you have successfully built the prime to stop the movement of your opponent, your opponent does not even get to toss the dice, and you shift your checkers and roll the dice again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Tactic

The aims of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game strategy are similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions hoping to better your chances of succeeding, but the Back Game strategy uses seperate tactics to achieve that. The Back Game plan is generally used when you are far behind your competitor. To participate in Backgammon with this plan, you need to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This technique is more challenging than others to employ in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the pieces are moved is partly the result of the dice toss.
