As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of skill and luck. The aim is to move your pieces safely around the game board to your inside board while at the same time your opposing player moves their checkers toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With competing player chips heading in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for particular tactics at particular times. Here are the last two Backgammon plans to round out your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the goal of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to shift his pieces, the Priming Game plan is to completely stop any activity of the opposing player by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s checkers will either get bumped, or result a bad position if he/she ever attempts to leave the wall. The ambush of the prime can be setup anyplace between point two and point 11 in your board. Once you have successfully assembled the prime to stop the activity of the competitor, your competitor doesn’t even get to toss the dice, that means you move your checkers and toss the dice again. You’ll win the game for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The aims of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game plan are similar – to hurt your competitor’s positions hoping to better your odds of winning, but the Back Game tactic relies on different techniques to achieve that. The Back Game strategy is frequently used when you’re far behind your opponent. To play Backgammon with this strategy, you need to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This technique is more challenging than others to use in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your checkers and how the chips are moved is partially the result of the dice roll.
