As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a game of skill and luck. The goal is to move your chips carefully around the board to your home board and at the same time your opposition moves their chips toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With competing player chips shifting in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the need for particular strategies at specific instances. Here are the two final Backgammon plans to complete your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the goal of the blocking tactic is to hamper the opponents ability to shift their pieces, the Priming Game tactic is to absolutely block any movement of the opponent by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s checkers will either get hit, or end up in a bad position if he at all attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be established anywhere between point two and point eleven in your game board. Once you have successfully built the prime to stop the activity of your competitor, the competitor doesn’t even get a chance to roll the dice, and you move your chips and toss the dice again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The goals of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game technique are very similar – to hurt your opponent’s positions hoping to better your odds of winning, but the Back Game tactic relies on alternate techniques to achieve that. The Back Game technique is frequently utilized when you are far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this technique, you need to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This technique is more difficult than others to play in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the checkers are relocated is partially the outcome of the dice roll.
