As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and luck. The aim is to move your checkers carefully around the board to your inside board while at the same time your opponent moves their chips toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With competing player checkers shifting in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for specific tactics at specific times. Here are the last 2 Backgammon plans to complete your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the goal of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to shift their checkers, the Priming Game tactic is to completely stop any activity of the opposing player by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s chips will either get bumped, or end up in a damaged position if he at all attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anywhere between point 2 and point 11 in your half of the board. After you’ve successfully built the prime to block the movement of the competitor, your opponent doesn’t even get to roll the dice, and you shift your pieces and toss the dice again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The objectives of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game plan are very similar – to harm your competitor’s positions in hope to improve your odds of succeeding, however the Back Game tactic uses alternate tactics to achieve that. The Back Game strategy is commonly utilized when you are far behind your opponent. To compete in Backgammon with this plan, you need to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This plan is more complex than others to use in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the checkers are relocated is partly the result of the dice toss.
