As we dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of talent and good luck. The goal is to move your checkers safely around the board to your inside board and at the same time your opposition shifts their pieces toward their home board in the opposing direction. With competing player pieces heading in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for specific tactics at particular times. Here are the two final Backgammon strategies to finish off your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the purpose of the blocking plan is to slow down the opponent to move their checkers, the Priming Game tactic is to completely barricade any movement of the opponent by constructing a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s checkers will either get bumped, or result a bad position if he/she ever tries to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be setup anywhere between point 2 and point eleven in your game board. As soon as you have successfully built the prime to block the movement of the competitor, the competitor does not even get a chance to roll the dice, that means you shift your checkers and roll the dice yet again. You will win the game for sure.

The Back Game Technique

The goals of the Back Game technique and the Blocking Game tactic are similar – to hurt your competitor’s positions in hope to boost your odds of winning, but the Back Game strategy utilizes seperate tactics to achieve that. The Back Game tactic is generally used when you are far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this plan, you need to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This plan is more difficult than others to play in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your chips and how the pieces are relocated is partly the result of the dice toss.
