As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of skill and luck. The aim is to move your pieces carefully around the game board to your home board and at the same time your opponent shifts their chips toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With opposing player checkers shifting in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for particular strategies at particular instances. Here are the two final Backgammon techniques to complete your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the purpose of the blocking plan is to hamper the opponents ability to shift her checkers, the Priming Game tactic is to completely block any movement of the opposing player by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s pieces will either get hit, or end up in a damaged position if he ever attempts to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be built anywhere between point two and point 11 in your half of the board. Once you’ve successfully constructed the prime to prevent the activity of your opponent, your competitor doesn’t even get a chance to toss the dice, and you shift your chips and roll the dice again. You’ll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The aims of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game tactic are similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions in hope to improve your odds of winning, however the Back Game tactic relies on alternate tactics to do that. The Back Game technique is often utilized when you’re far behind your competitor. To participate in Backgammon with this technique, you need to control 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This strategy is more complex than others to employ in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the chips are relocated is partly the outcome of the dice roll.
