The goal of a Backgammon match is to shift your checkers around the game board and get them off the board faster than your opposing player who works just as hard to achieve the same buthowever they move in the opposing direction. Succeeding in a match in Backgammon requires both tactics and fortune. Just how far you will be able to move your checkers is up to the numbers from tossing the dice, and the way you shift your chips are decided on by your overall playing strategies. Enthusiasts use different strategies in the different parts of a game based on your positions and opponent’s.

The Running Game Strategy

The aim of the Running Game plan is to bring all your pieces into your home board and bear them off as quickly as you can. This plan concentrates on the speed of shifting your chips with absolutely no efforts to hit or barricade your opponent’s pieces. The best scenario to use this tactic is when you believe you can shift your own checkers quicker than your opposition does: when 1) you have less pieces on the board; 2) all your checkers have past your competitor’s pieces; or 3) your opponent doesn’t use the hitting or blocking tactic.

The Blocking Game Tactic

The primary aim of the blocking technique, by its name, is to block the opponent’s chips, temporarily, while not fretting about moving your chips rapidly. As soon as you have created the blockage for the opponent’s movement with a couple of chips, you can shift your other chips quickly off the game board. The player should also have a good strategy when to withdraw and shift the pieces that you employed for blocking. The game becomes interesting when the opposition uses the same blocking strategy.
