As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of talent and good luck. The goal is to move your chips safely around the board to your inside board while at the same time your opposition moves their pieces toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With competing player chips moving in opposing directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for particular tactics at particular instances. Here are the last two Backgammon techniques to complete your game.

The Priming Game Tactic

If the aim of the blocking tactic is to slow down the opponent to shift his checkers, the Priming Game plan is to completely stop any movement of the opposing player by constructing a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s pieces will either get bumped, or result a damaged position if he at all attempts to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be established anywhere between point two and point eleven in your game board. Once you’ve successfully assembled the prime to prevent the activity of the competitor, the opponent does not even get to toss the dice, and you move your pieces and roll the dice again. You’ll be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Plan

The objectives of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game tactic are very similar – to hurt your competitor’s positions hoping to better your chances of winning, but the Back Game plan uses alternate techniques to do that. The Back Game technique is frequently utilized when you are far behind your opponent. To play Backgammon with this plan, you have to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This plan is more difficult than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the pieces are relocated is partly the result of the dice toss.
