The objective of a Backgammon match is to move your pieces around the game board and bear them from the board faster than your challenger who works harder to do the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Succeeding in a game in Backgammon requires both strategy and luck. Just how far you can shift your checkers is left to the numbers from rolling the dice, and just how you move your checkers are decided on by your overall playing techniques. Players use differing tactics in the differing parts of a game depending on your positions and opponent’s.
The Running Game Tactic
The goal of the Running Game plan is to bring all your pieces into your home board and bear them off as fast as you can. This strategy focuses on the pace of advancing your checkers with absolutely no time spent to hit or block your competitor’s pieces. The ideal time to employ this plan is when you think you can move your own pieces quicker than the opponent does: when 1) you have a fewer pieces on the game board; 2) all your checkers have past your opponent’s chips; or 3) your opponent does not use the hitting or blocking technique.
The Blocking Game Plan
The main goal of the blocking technique, by the name, is to block the opponent’s checkers, temporarily, while not worrying about moving your pieces rapidly. As soon as you’ve established the barrier for your competitor’s movement with a couple of pieces, you can move your other pieces rapidly off the game board. The player really should also have a clear plan when to withdraw and shift the chips that you used for blocking. The game gets interesting when your competitor uses the same blocking technique.
