As we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of talent and good luck. The aim is to move your checkers safely around the game board to your inside board while at the same time your opposition shifts their chips toward their home board in the opposing direction. With competing player pieces shifting in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for specific tactics at specific instances. Here are the two final Backgammon techniques to finish off your game.
The Priming Game Plan
If the aim of the blocking tactic is to hamper the opponents ability to shift her chips, the Priming Game strategy is to completely block any activity of the opposing player by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s pieces will either get hit, or result a damaged position if he ever tries to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anyplace between point two and point 11 in your board. As soon as you’ve successfully assembled the prime to block the movement of the competitor, the opponent doesn’t even get to roll the dice, and you shift your pieces and toss the dice yet again. You will be a winner for sure.
The Back Game Technique
The objectives of the Back Game tactic and the Blocking Game tactic are similar – to hinder your opponent’s positions in hope to better your chances of succeeding, but the Back Game plan relies on alternate techniques to do that. The Back Game technique is generally employed when you’re far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this tactic, you need to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This tactic is more challenging than others to employ in Backgammon because it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the chips are relocated is partly the outcome of the dice roll.
