As we have dicussed in the last article, Backgammon is a casino game of talent and good luck. The aim is to move your checkers safely around the board to your inside board while at the same time your opposition shifts their checkers toward their inside board in the opposite direction. With competing player pieces moving in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for particular tactics at particular times. Here are the last two Backgammon strategies to round out your game.

The Priming Game Strategy

If the purpose of the blocking strategy is to hamper the opponents ability to move his pieces, the Priming Game strategy is to completely block any activity of the opponent by building a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s chips will either get hit, or end up in a damaged position if he/she at all tries to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be built anyplace between point 2 and point eleven in your half of the board. Once you’ve successfully assembled the prime to block the movement of your competitor, the opponent doesn’t even get a chance to roll the dice, that means you shift your chips and roll the dice yet again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Strategy

The aims of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game tactic are very similar – to hinder your competitor’s positions hoping to boost your odds of succeeding, but the Back Game strategy relies on alternate techniques to do that. The Back Game strategy is commonly used when you are far behind your competitor. To participate in Backgammon with this strategy, you have to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This tactic is more challenging than others to use in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your chips and how the checkers are moved is partially the result of the dice toss.
